A regional business group says the New England states should cooperate more to attract high tech manufacturers.
In a the Boston based says a multi-state approach is key to the future of advanced manufacturing in the region.
Council President and CEO Jim Brett says the number one issue for all the New England states is workforce development.
Brett says government, educators and businesses need to work quickly to attract younger workers to manufacturing before employers go elsewhere.
“If this continues they may say, ‘we may not expand here, or we may not keep our facilities in New England�,� he says.
According to the report, a key to the effort is convincing young people early to consider high-tech manufacturing as a career option.
